Hi, I'm Rodrigo González del Cueto, a computer scientist and firmware engineer.
My journey began at UNAM, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Computer Science. During my time there, I dove into the fascinating world of computational intelligence at IIMAS, researching and optimizing CPU and GPU implementations of bio-inspired algorithms such as genetic algorithms, particle swarm optimization, and differential evolution. This culminated in my dissertation, "Parallelization of Bio-inspired Meta-heuristics"" under the guidance of Katya Rodríguez Vázquez.
My professional career has centered on firmware engineering, with a focus on memory initialization, platform security, driver development, and system-level debugging.
As a silicon firmware development engineer at Intel, I contributed to a diverse portfolio of x86 platforms across both Client and Server segments, including development on Xeon Phi processors (Knights Landing and Knights Mill) and multiple generations of Client platforms (from Kaby Lake to Panther Lake).
Currently, I am at AMD working as a DDR firmware engineer.
I'm fascinated by recent advancements in computational intelligence, computer graphics, and computer vision. While computer science holds a special place in my heart, I'm also captivated by the wonders of biology and physics, always seeking to learn and expand my understanding of the world around me.
My creative side finds expression through various visual arts, including photography, painting, and drawing. I'm particularly drawn to the challenges of astrophotography, high-speed photography, macro photography, and microscopy, always eager to capture the world from unique perspectives.
